Masataka Goto received the Doctor of Engineering degree from Waseda University in 1998. He is currently a Prime Senior Researcher and the Leader of the Media Interaction Group at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan. Over the past 22 years, Masataka Goto has published more than 200 papers in refereed journals and international conferences and has received 38 awards, including several best paper awards, best presentation awards, the Tenth Japan Academy Medal, the Tenth JSPS PRIZE, and the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Young Scientists’ Prize). He has served as a committee member of over 90 scientific societies and conferences, including the General Chair of the 10th and 15th International Society for Music Information Retrieval Conferences (ISMIR 2009 and 2014). In 2011, as the Research Director he began a 5-year research project (OngaCREST Project) on music technologies, a project funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (CREST, JST).

Masahiro Hamasaki is currently working as a Research Scientist at AIST. He completed his PhD studies in March 2005 at Soken University. His doctoral dissertation deals with knowledge sharing system that utilize social networks.

Tomoyasu Nakano is currently working as a Research Scientist at AIST. He completed his PhD studies in March 2008 at University of Tsukuba. His doctoral dissertation deals with music information processing systems that utilize the singing voice.

　

Jun Kato is a Human-Computer Interaction researcher at AIST, where he works on designing tools for programming interactive media content. He received a Ph.D in Computer Science from The University of Tokyo in March, 2014. Prior to graduation, he worked as research intern at Microsoft Research Asia, Redmond, and Adobe Research Seattle. He gained academic recognition such as Microsoft Research Asia Fellowship 2012 and ACM CHI 2013 Best Paper Honorable Mention.

　

Masa Ogata is a Human-Computer Interaction researcher at AIST, where he works on human interface applying embodiment. He received a Ph.D in Computer Science from Keio University in March, 2016. Prior to graduation, he worked as research intern at ATR and Microsoft Research Asia. He gained academic recognition such as Microsoft Research Asia Fellowship 2013 and ACM CHI 2015 Best Paper Honorable Mention.

Jordan completed his Ph.D. at Queen Mary University of London in October 2014. His dissertation focuses on the causes of listener disagreements in the perception of music structure, and combines music information retrieval with music theoretic and cognitive approaches. Previously, while completing his M.A. in music technology at McGill University, he planned and implemented the collection of ground truth annotations for the Structural Analysis of Large Amounts of Music Information (SALAMI) project. He has also received an M.Sc. in operations research engineering from the University of Southern California and an A.B. in music and physics from Harvard College. Considered broadly, his research centres on how listeners recognize and understand patterns.

　

　

　

　

Tomoki Toda earned his D.E. degree from the Graduate School of Information Science, NAIST, Nara, Japan, in 2003. He was a Research Fellow of JSPS in the Graduate School of Engineering, NITECH, Aichi, Japan, from 2003 to 2005. He was an Assistant Professor of the Graduate School of Information Science, NAIST from 2005 to 2011, where he is currently an Associate Professor. He was also a Visiting Researcher at the LTI, CMU, Pittsburgh, USA, from October 2003 to September 2004 and at the CUED, Cambridge, UK, from March to August 2008. He was a member of the Speech and Language TC of the IEEE SPS from 2007 to 2009. He received 8 paper awards including the 2009 Young Author Best Paper Award from the IEEE SPS.
